The NAACP Camden County Branch (Unit 5177) is calling for donations to support our "Black History Matters" book drive that is being organized as part of Juneteenth activities. Individuals and organizations are invited to donate new and gently used books about Black history and culture, with an emphasis on children’s books across all ages.
The donated books will be made available, at no charge, to the community at a Juneteenth event to take place on Saturday, June 17, 2023. Details about the Juneteenth event and book giveaway are under development and will be shared once details are confirmed.
There are 3 ways you can choose to support the book drive:
Donate books in your possession by completing this form. The Branch will arrange for a volunteer to pick up the books.
Purchase books online and have them mailed to NAACP Camden County Branch, P.O. Box 1073, Kingsland GA 31548
Make a financial donation designated for purchasing books.
Book titles purchased with donated funds will be guided by recommendations from the Branch’s Education Committee as well as books for children and youth recognized with NAACP Image Awards. Every effort will be made to support Black and POC-owned publishers and bookstores as well as authors.
Books must be received no later than Friday, June 16th to be included in the Juneteenth giveaway.
